Best of British Week
Every year, we dedicate one week of learning to ‘Best of British.’
Our first Best of British Week was titled, ‘The Great Adswood Bake Off!’. This inovled everything from learning about our monarchy, studying famous British artists, singers/bands. Learning a British poem off by heart and of course, creating a favourite British cake. Classes had visits from ‘the Queen’, Henry VII and other monarchs.
The climax of the week was the ‘Adswood Bake Off’ celebration assembly which parents/carers and governors were invited to. Each class performed their song and recited their poem before having their cakes judged by our judging panel. All that was missing was Mary Berry!
During our second B.O.B Week, where our focus was ‘Adswood City Breaks’, each class chose a British city to learn about:
- Year 1-London
- Year 2-Cardiff
- Year 3-Newcastle
- Year 4-Stockport
- Year 5-Glasgow
- Year 6-Liverpool
Throughout the week, pupils engaged in fun, practical activities which covered all areas of the curriculum and deepened their knowledge and understanding of their chosen city. Activities ranged from: a royal tea party, making scouse, learning Geordie phrases, making a tourist video and painting skylines.
Each class produced a movie to showcase their learning and share with other classes.
Keep an eye out for our next Best of British Week-we can’t wait.
