At Adswood Primary children follow an exciting and challenging History and Geography curriculum through the Learning Challenge concept. Each Learning Challenge links directly to the knowledge, skills and understanding for History and Geography from the new National Curriculum and ensures progression across the school. History and Geography are often the ‘drivers ‘of each topic which is then further enhanced by expressive art subjects such as Art, Design and Technology, Music and Dance. Each topic is introduced with a ‘Wow’ activity and/or display linked to an overarching question to ignite curiosity. From this, children develop their own sub questions and further lines of enquiry.

In Geography, there are opportunities for children to take part in Fieldwork which encourages further exploration of their environment and local area to deepen understanding. A rich programme of visits to historic sites and museums for hands on and living history activities, brings the past to life for pupils and further embeds learning of each historical age.
