Design and Draw Week

During our Design & Draw Week in the Autumn Term, all of Key Stage 1 and 2 children used their personal sketchbooks to explore the work of other artists from around the world whilst being introduced to different art styles and techniques.

Key Stage One learnt about print, contrasting colours and the use of simple shapes and lines when looking at the work of the famous American pop artist, Andy Warhol and the Russian born abstract artist, Wallisy Kandinsky.  Lots of vibrant colours were used in conjunction with repeating patterns, digital images and block colouring.

In Key Stage Two, the range of artists, styles and techniques varied more with Year 3 creating mixed media montages of volcanoes to mimic the work of Margaret Godfrey.

Year 4 were lucky enough to meet and work alongside a local Stockport artist named Lucy Burgess. She really inspired the children to create boldly coloured ‘townscapes’ of the iconic buildings that make up Stockport town centre.
