Maureen and the Allotmenteers

Our school's relationship with Maureen began with a chat about planting trees and improving air quality. She then paid us a visit, donating some lovely plants to our Sunshine Garden. Since then the relationship has blossomed into one which we treasure. Maureen invited us on a tour of her allotment, where the children had the chance to get their hands dirty, learning about where food comes from and how they could grow their own. From picking peas to digging for potatoes; holding chicks and sewing seeds; fruit and veg identification to simply taking time to smell the flowers, it was a wonderful experience that I'm sure has inspired some future gardeners. We can't thank Maureen and her friends enough for giving her time and sharing her experience and she has more in store for us... so watch this space!
