Delve into History Workshop Year 2

Our Delve into History: Old Toys workshop gave the children the chance to explore toys from the past and discover how playtime has changed over the years. Through hands on activities, storytelling and discussion children investigated real toys from the past and compared them with modern toys. We sat in a semi circle and used drama to climb in a time machine and ‘travel back in time’ to the early 1990’s where we were shown toys and games
from the decade, some children were even chosen to demonstrate the toys. The children also travelled back to the 1960’s and looked at toys from the decade.

The children completed fun activities including;

• Drawing toys from the 1960’s and 1990’s.
• 1960’s hoopla game competition.
• Playing with toys that parents and grandparents would have owned.
