World Book Day 2026
Lesson: English
World Book Day was a spectacular celebration of literacy and oracy at our school! We were delighted to welcome children’s author Ian Curran for an inspiring day of creativity. Following a fantastic whole-school assembly featuring his book, The Owl That Could Only Twit, Ian led interactive workshops with every class, offering our children a unique opportunity to meet a professional writer and explore the importance of being themselves.
To build on the themes of communication and confidence, we also launched our "Character Champions" project, where children moved beyond their costumes to become true advocates for reading:
-
EYFS & KS1 shared heartfelt "Show and Tell" presentations about their favourite characters.
-
Year 2 brought stories to life with energetic "Character Battles!"
-
KS2 delivered persuasive speeches, advocating for their chosen character’s significance in literature.
It was a joy to see our children’s passion and confidence shine. A huge thank you to Ian Curran for helping make this such an inspiring day for all!
